Professor of computer science at Lancaster University, where he is also co-director of the Data Science Institute and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Development.
Background & Expertise
Nigel’s research focus is in the area of pervasive computing and IoT, including systems support for new forms of data capture and interaction. In the past he has been working on privacy mediators in pervasive environments, privacy aware personalisation and analytics for smart environments and developing new models of user consent based on delegation. Furthermore, he has undertaken speculative work on future security and privacy risks in augmented memory systems and has been leading work on several blockchain projects covering the areas of transport and charitable giving.
Role on CDIP Project
Working on Theme 1, Prof Davies will be bringing in his expertise to create requirements for privacy and security settings for developers and leading the technology impact assessment.
